Why Visitation Home?
New Jersey has a waiting list exceeding 6,300 people in need of community-based living (Trenton Times, April 30, 2001). Visitation Home is our response to Jean Vanier's (founder of L'arche Communities) vision of a community in which people with disabilities can begin to discover that "they have a value and they are loved and so loveable." After hearing about our plans for Visitation Home, a father of a child with a disability said, "Up until now, every time I thought about my son's future, it was always with worry. For the first time, I can think about it with hope."
